Aberrant DSP has unveiled a new free degradation effect plugin, Lofi Oddity. This toolkit is designed for sonic destruction and experimentation, incorporating effects from SketchCassette, Digitalis, ShapeShifter, and other unknown sources to create an accessible and engaging auditory experience.
Lofi Oddity includes a variety of features that allow users to manipulate and experiment with sound. One of these is the Corruption module, which is inspired by Digitalis. This module allows for digital artifacting and stutter effects, adding a unique layer of complexity to the sound.
The toolkit also includes a mysterious feature full of uncharted spaces. This feature adds an element of surprise and unpredictability, encouraging users to explore and experiment with the toolkit’s capabilities.
Another notable feature is the Tape effect, which showcases the warm, degraded tones of SketchCassette. This effect adds a vintage feel to the sound, reminiscent of the classic cassette tapes.
The Comp section, inspired by ShapeShifter, provides extra glue and punch to the sound. This feature enhances the overall impact of the sound, making it more powerful and compelling.
Furthermore, the Master Mix control allows any combination of settings to reach from tasteful to abominable. This feature gives users the freedom to customize the sound according to their preferences, whether they want something subtle or something more intense.
Finally, Lofi Oddity includes a custom preset system with 18 factory presets that illuminate the toolkit’s broken soundscapes. These presets provide a starting point for users, giving them an idea of the different sounds they can create with the toolkit.
