Acon Digital releases updated FREE Multiply 2 chorus plugin.

News: Acon Digital releases updated FREE Multiply 2 chorus plugin.

Acon Digital has launched Multiply 2, the latest version of its chorus effect plugin. The update continues the developer’s approach to chorus processing with a focus on natural-sounding voice layering and expanded modulation control.

Multiply 2 is designed to avoid the comb-filtering artifacts often associated with traditional chorus effects. According to Acon Digital, each simulated voice is processed through a dedicated phase-randomizing filter, with the aim of producing a thicker and more natural ensemble character.

The plugin can generate up to six additional voices alongside the original signal. This architecture is intended to support a range of applications, including subtle thickening, stereo widening of mono sources, ensemble-style layering, and more experimental modulation-based sound design.

Key features of Multiply 2 include:

  • Up to six simulated voices, each processed with a phase-randomizing filter
  • Independent pitch and loudness modulation with separate rate and depth controls
  • An integrated five-band equalizer with adjustable filter slopes

The phase-randomized voice engine forms the core of the processing structure. By applying individual phase randomization to each generated voice, the plugin is designed to reduce the metallic or hollow character that can occur with conventional chorus implementations, instead producing a layered ensemble effect.

Multiply 2 also provides independent control over pitch modulation and amplitude modulation. Each modulation type includes its own rate and depth parameters, allowing users to shape how the additional voices evolve over time. This structure supports both subtle movement and more pronounced modulation effects, depending on the chosen settings.

The integrated equalizer consists of five bands: low cut, low shelf, mid bell, high shelf, and high cut. Adjustable filter slopes are included, enabling users to shape the tonal balance of the effected signal directly within the plugin. This allows tonal adjustments to be made without requiring additional processing tools in the signal chain.

In addition, Multiply 2 features a built-in pre-delay section with modulation capabilities. This component extends the plugin’s functionality beyond traditional chorus applications, enabling diffuse echo-style textures alongside widening and ensemble effects.

The plugin also includes a range of onboard presets intended to provide starting points for different use cases and production contexts.

Multiply 2 is available for free from the Acon Digital website. Existing Multiply users can access Multiply 2 through their account product pages.
