Ample Sound has launched Ample Bass P Lite 4 (ABPL4), a free virtual bass instrument for Windows and macOS. Developed by Beijing Ample Sound Technology Co. Ltd., the plugin is based on a classic Fender Precision Bass and introduces an updated MIDI composition system alongside a range of performance articulations.
Ample Bass P Lite 4 is designed to provide an electric bass instrument for modern music production environments. The instrument is built around a sampled Precision Bass and includes the Fingerstyle 1 library. The total library size is 560 MB at 16-bit resolution.
The plugin offers a selection of articulations intended to replicate common electric bass performance techniques:
- Sustain
- Hammer On and Pull Off
- Legato Slide
- Palm Mute
- Accent
ABPL4 supports drop tuning, with the lowest playable note extending down to D1. This allows users to work in alternative tunings often used in contemporary genres.
A central feature of version 4 is its MIDI editor, which is tailored specifically for plucked string instruments. The editor is designed to assist with detailed programming of bass parts and integrates with the instrument’s articulation system. The plugin also supports Guitar Pro files from GP3 through Guitar Pro 8, enabling users to import existing tablature and score-based arrangements directly into their projects.
In addition to the core instrument, Ample Bass P Lite 4 includes a built-in amplification and effects section. The integrated AMP system features three amplifier models:
- Vintage-15
- Bass-500
- Bass-Pro
The effects section includes an 8-band EQ, compressor, delay, and convolution reverb. These tools are provided within the plugin to allow users to shape and process the bass sound without requiring external processing.
Ample Bass P Lite 4 is available in VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX formats, and also includes a standalone host application. It supports macOS 10.15 or later and Windows 7 through Windows 11 (64-bit). The developer specifies an Intel i5 CPU or higher, over 20 GB of disk space, and recommends the use of an SSD.
Ample Bass P Lite 4 (ABPL4) is available as a free download. There is no stated expiry for the offer.
