Analog Obsession has launched RazorClip, a new analog-based clipper plugin for macOS and Windows. The free plugin is part of the developer’s One Time Donation collection on Patreon and is available in multiple formats for modern DAWs.
RazorClip is designed as a clipping processor with several circuit variations and flexible gain control. According to Analog Obsession, the plugin features five different clipping models. These models are described as fully “ideal” analog modeled circuits and are not intended to replicate any specific hardware unit.
The plugin includes the following core controls:
- Model: Five selectable clipping circuit types.
- Gain: Up to 24 dB of gain-compensated input to set the clipping level.
- Output: A clean output level control with a ±24 dB range.
- Blend: A mix control for blending processed and unprocessed signals.
- I/O: A bypass function.
The gain-compensated input stage allows users to drive the selected clipping model while managing level changes. The output control provides additional adjustment after processing, and the blend function enables parallel-style clipping within a single instance of the plugin.
RazorClip features a resizable graphical user interface, adjustable from 50% to 200% of its original size. When duplicating an instance within a session, the plugin retains the current GUI size. Newly loaded instances open at the default size, although users can save a preferred configuration as a default preset within their DAW to recall the same size for future instances.
The plugin is available in VST3, AU, and AAX Native formats, including Audiosuite support. It is compatible with:
- macOS: Version 10.11 or higher, supporting both Intel and Apple Silicon systems. A graphics card with Metal support is required.
- Windows: Windows 10 or 11, with a graphics card that supports OpenGL.
RazorClip can be downloaded via dedicated installers for macOS and Windows, with an additional ZIP package available for Windows users. The release does not have an expiry and is available as a free download.
RazorClip is available as a free download and is part of Analog Obsession’s One Time Donation collection on Patreon.
