ApulSoft has launched SplitS, a spectral sibilance control plugin that is compatible with both Mac and Windows operating systems. This innovative plugin, developed in collaboration with Swiss mixer Thomas “Mister T.” Gloor, is not a de-esser, but a mixer that balances sibilances and separates a vocal track between sibilance and non-sibilance without the use of compression, EQ, or crossover.
SplitS boasts advanced features such as sibilance detection using spectral brightness, level, and pitch. It also has the capability to split the signal into sibilance and non-sibilance components for precise editing. The plugin maintains 100% signal integrity if no gain change is applied. Additionally, it provides a scrolling waveform display showing splitting and level changes in real time.
The plugin is available in AudioUnits/AAX/VST3 formats on macOS and Windows 64bit. It also offers a free trial for 10 days. The system requirements for the plugin include macOS 10.11 or newer on a 64bit Intel or Apple Silicon CPU, or Windows 10 or newer running a 64bit host on a x64 CPU. The host application should be AAX, AU or VST3. For AAX, Pro Tools 11 or newer is needed.
However, the plugin does have some limitations in the demo mode. These include a 10-day demo period, inability to export/save presets to the preset menu, and a demo dialog shown for 5 seconds when the plugin editor is opened.
The plugin is priced at USD 59, but is currently available for USD 49, representing a 17% discount. This introductory sale offer is valid until November 22nd, 2024.
