News: Artists in DSP has released the public beta of Amorph 1.0, a plugin that turns written descriptions into playable DSP code.

Artists in DSP has launched the public beta of Amorph 1.0, a VST3 and AU plugin for macOS and Windows. Amorph is designed to turn written descriptions of instruments, effects, and MIDI tools into DSP code that can be compiled and played within a DAW.

The plugin provides a text-based workflow for creating audio and MIDI devices. Users can describe the type of tool they want to build, then use the resulting DSP code as a starting point for a playable patch within Amorph.

Amorph 1.0 includes more than 40 patches created by Artists in DSP and its community. These cover instruments and effects built in the plugin, with their source code available for users to read, edit, and adapt.

The public beta introduces several ways of creating and working with patches:

  • An AI assistant that operates within the plugin using the user’s own API key, including voice input.
  • Support for coding agents, including Claude Code and Cursor, connected through MCP.
  • A copy-and-paste workflow for use with AI chat services, which does not require an API key or account.

Loaded patches can also be played from a phone. Amorph supports patch sharing through links or files, and provides an optional source-locking feature for shared patches.

Artists in DSP has also published a 13-minute walkthrough covering the plugin’s workflow, alongside a short demonstration of Modular Town, a community-built synthesizer presented as a village-style interface.

Amorph 1.0 is available as a free public beta in VST3 and AU formats for macOS and Windows.
