Auburn Sounds has launched Psypan 2, a binaural panner and stereo multi-effect plug-in for macOS, Windows, and Linux. The new version expands on the original concept with additional panning modes and creative stereo processing options, available in both Free and Full editions.
Psypan 2 is designed to provide a wide range of tools for working with the stereo field. According to Auburn Sounds, the plug-in offers multiple approaches to positioning, widening, and modulating audio in stereo, combining binaural techniques with volume-based panning and creative effects.
The plug-in is available in two versions. The Free Edition includes 10 pan modes, while the Full Edition provides access to 17 modes in total.
Psypan 2 includes five binaural panners:
These modes are intended to simulate spatial positioning using binaural processing techniques. In addition, the plug-in offers three volume-based panning modes that follow classic pan laws:
- Balance
- Dual Pan
- Dual Rotation
For more experimental or modulation-focused applications, Psypan 2 also provides nine creative FX modes. These include:
- Haas
- Doubler
- Chorus
- µ-shifting
- Peak Panner
- Widener
- M/S Haas
- M/S µ-Shift
- M/S Peak
These modes are designed to address a range of stereo processing tasks, from subtle spatial enhancement to more pronounced modulation and mid/side-based effects. Auburn Sounds states that the collection of modes is intended to cover a broad spectrum of stereo field manipulation needs within a single plug-in.
Psypan 2 is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux systems. Both editions are available from Auburn Sounds.
Psypan 2 Full Edition is priced at $38.67 MSRP and is available for $29 for the first two weeks, representing a 25% discount until 15th August.
