Audio Plugin Guy has announced Song Structure Planner v3, a redesigned browser-based arrangement tool for building, editing, and printing song structures. The new version introduces a refined interface and workflow updates as part of the broader Audio Plugin Guy apps v3 rollout.
Song Structure Planner v3 is designed to help producers and songwriters sketch and organise song sections, refine timing decisions, and maintain a clear arrangement overview throughout the creative process. The update brings the planner into the Audio Plugin Guy v3 design system, featuring a cleaner layout, clearer toolbar actions, standardised help and save and load behaviour, light and dark themes, and a mobile-optimised interface.
The tool focuses on practical arrangement work. Users can create editable song blocks, rename sections, define bar counts, and reorganise the structure using drag-and-drop controls. Energy and density ratings can be assigned to individual sections, and notes can be added for reference during writing, recording, or production sessions.
Key features in Song Structure Planner v3 include:
- Editable arrangement blocks for intros, verses, choruses, bridges, drops, outros, and custom sections
- Inline editing for section names, bar counts, notes, colour tags, and arrangement intensity markers
- Drag-to-reorder section cards, with Up and Down controls for mobile-friendly editing
- Live timing feedback based on BPM, time signature, total bar count, and target length
- Built-in arrangement starter templates
The application supports saving and loading .songarrangement files, enabling users to return to existing projects or share structured plans. A full undo and redo history is included, along with a print and PDF view that formats the section map and notes into a clear document layout suitable for studio use or planning sessions.
According to Audio Plugin Guy, the v3 release establishes the direction for the wider apps v3 rollout. The updated interface, streamlined toolbar flow, and mobile-focused layout work introduced in Song Structure Planner v3 will extend to other Audio Plugin Guy tools over time. For the planner itself, this includes phone-width overflow fixes and further mobile adjustments tailored to loaded arrangements and the horizontal timeline view.
Stu Smith of Audio Plugin Guy stated that the planner was originally developed to provide a fast way to map out a song and bring a clear arrangement plan into sessions. The v3 update reflects refinements based on extended real-world use, including the ability to print a structured song plan for note-taking during studio or listening sessions.
