Autodafe has launched Autodafe Bitcrusher, a free bitcrusher plugin available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. The plugin is intended for users seeking digital bit-crushing effects with a straightforward control layout.
Autodafe Bitcrusher is designed to provide controlled digital degradation through bit depth and sample rate reduction. According to the developer, the plugin focuses on producing gritty digital textures, crunchy harmonics, and lo-fi effects that can range from subtle coloration to more pronounced signal alteration.
The plugin features a minimal interface built around core parameters. Bit depth reduction and sample rate reduction are combined with a Mix control, allowing users to blend the processed signal with the original input. This configuration is intended to support both precise adjustments and more experimental sound shaping.
Autodafe Bitcrusher is positioned as a lightweight effect suitable for a variety of audio sources. The developer describes its use cases as including both gentle digital character and more extreme sound transformation, depending on the settings applied.
Two versions of Autodafe Bitcrusher are available. The Free Version and the Supporter Version are functionally identical, with no feature restrictions in the free release. The Supporter Version is offered as an optional way for users to support ongoing development of the plugin and future projects from Autodafe.
The plugin has been developed using the JUCE framework and has been tested on macOS, Windows, and Linux systems. At the time of release, no user reviews had been published.
