AvBo Plugins has launched LP-33 Sim, a Mac audio plugin based on eight effects found in the SP-303 phrase sampler. Available in VST3 and AUv3 formats, the plugin is designed to bring these processor types to DAWs and compatible Audio Unit hosts.
LP-33 Sim includes Vinyl Sim, Flanger, Chorus, Lo-Fi, Isolator, Pitch Shifter, FilterDrive, and Radio effects. According to AvBo Plugins, the effects were reverse-engineered from an original SP-303 unit, using spectral analysis and A/B listening tests as part of the matching process.
The Vinyl Simulator is intended to reproduce elements associated with the hardware processor, including ducking compression, pitch flutter, crackling, and lo-fi processing. The other included effects cover modulation, filtering, pitch processing, frequency isolation, distortion-related filtering, and radio-style treatments.
While the original effects are associated with mono hardware processing, LP-33 Sim provides stereo operation for use in modern DAW sessions. Its Radio effect also includes AM and FM radio simulation options.
The plugin uses a hardware-inspired interface intended to reflect the source sampler’s control approach. LP-33 Sim is available for macOS in VST3 and AUv3 formats.
LP-33 Sim is available from AvBo Plugins for $19.99.
