Azalea Studios releases Bloom shimmer reverb.

News: Azalea Studios releases Bloom shimmer reverb.

Azalea Studios has launched Bloom, a shimmer reverb plugin for macOS and Windows. The plugin combines a tempo-synced reverb engine with a pitched feedback path designed to create harmonically rich spatial effects.

Bloom is available in AU and VST3 formats on macOS, with universal support for Apple Silicon and Intel systems, and VST3 on Windows. An AAX version for Pro Tools on macOS is also supported. The plugin is notarized for macOS compatibility.

At the core of Bloom is a tempo-aware reverb engine paired with what Azalea Studios describes as a “bloom” feedback path. This path introduces a pitched harmonic layer into the reverb tail, allowing users to shift the shimmer effect up to an octave above or below the original signal. The result is a harmonically enhanced reverb tail intended to function as an evolving pad-like layer within a mix.

The reverb engine includes a built-in reverb-time helper designed to align decay and pre-delay values with the session tempo. Users can lock these parameters to standard or non-standard BPM values, including fractional tempos such as 72.5 BPM. Tempo-synced size presets are also included, enabling reverb spaces to follow rhythmic subdivisions.

Bloom is built around a custom feedback delay network architecture. According to the developer, this structure is designed to maintain a balanced response across the frequency spectrum while supporting a range of spatial characteristics, from smaller room-style environments to extended hall-style reverbs.

The plugin provides a broad set of controls for shaping both the core reverb and the shimmer component, including:

  • Decay and pre-delay
  • Shimmer pitch and feedback amount
  • Character and Diffuse controls for shaping diffusion
  • Brightness and gain
  • Low cut and high cut filters
  • Stereo width
  • Modulation and Freeze
  • Independent dry and wet faders

A dedicated Freeze control allows users to sustain the current state of the reverb buffer, supporting ambient textures and sustained harmonic layers. Independent dry and wet level faders provide additional flexibility when blending the processed and unprocessed signals.

For workflow integration, Bloom includes neon-style LED metering, a separate reverb on/off switch, and support for native DAW automation. Right-clicking any control opens the host’s automation menu, streamlining parameter assignment.

Bloom is compatible with major DAWs including Logic Pro, Pro Tools, FL Studio, Ableton Live, Cubase, Studio One, and Reaper.

A free demo version is available, providing full functionality with brief periodic muting until activation. A single license covers both macOS and Windows systems.

Bloom is available at an introductory price of $69, reduced from the regular price of $99. Further details are available from azaleadsp.com.
