News: Azpex Audio has released REGENT, a free clipper plugin for controlled peak shaping, parallel clipping and final-stage processing.

Azpex Audio has launched REGENT, a clipper plugin designed for controlled peak shaping, parallel clipping and final-stage processing. The free plugin separates its drive, clipping shape, output level and mix controls into individual processing stages.

REGENT is intended to allow the clipping stage to be driven without changing the wet output level or the selected clipping curve. Its controls include a Clip parameter offering 0 to +10 dB of drive, a wet output level ranging from -24 to 0 dB, and a dry/wet mix control from 0 to 100%.

The plugin provides three clipping styles:

  • Soft, with the broadest transition into clipping.
  • Solid, with a tighter clipping transition.
  • Hard, which uses a direct clamp without a knee.

A Character control adjusts the transition shape in Soft and Solid modes towards a harder response. This control does not affect the Hard mode.

REGENT uses first-order ADAA processing and includes selectable 1x, 2x, 4x and 8x oversampling options. The dry and wet signal paths are time-aligned using a fixed eight-sample latency, supporting phase-aligned parallel clipping.

Additional features include input and output meters, short-term LUFS metering, and a transfer-curve display for visualising the selected clipping response.

REGENT is available in VST3 format for Windows, and in VST3 and AU formats for macOS.

REGENT is available free of charge.
