Beehives & Blood has launched DICEBOX, a pair of utility plugins designed to generate new presets from existing third-party instruments and effects. The release includes DICEBOX INST for virtual instruments and DICEBOX FX for audio effects, both built to host VST3 or AU plugins.
DICEBOX is intended to provide controlled parameter randomization within hosted plugins. Users can load any compatible VST3 or AU plugin from their existing library into the DICEBOX environment, where its parameters become available for structured randomization.
The system is designed to prioritise usability. An intensity control allows users to determine how far parameters are adjusted during randomization, offering control over the degree of variation introduced.
All parameters from the hosted plugin are displayed in a scrollable list. Each parameter includes an individual lock or unlock option, allowing users to protect specific settings from being altered. In addition, parameters are organised into groups, with dedicated buttons enabling users to randomize individual sections independently rather than affecting the entire plugin at once.
To help maintain practical results, certain parameters are automatically excluded from randomization. These include controls typically labelled gain, master, output, bypass, and mute. Users retain the option to manually unlock these parameters if they wish to include them in the process.
The release consists of two separate plugins:
- DICEBOX INST, which hosts virtual instruments.
- DICEBOX FX, which hosts audio effects.
Both versions support VST3 plugins, while AU support is available on macOS. Compatibility details are as follows:
- macOS 11 Big Sur or later, Universal binary supporting Intel and Apple Silicon
- Windows 10 or later, 64-bit
- Formats: VST3 (macOS and Windows), AU (macOS only)
DICEBOX is available now. The introductory price is EUR 19 until August 10th, 2026, after which the regular price will be EUR 29. A free 7-day trial is available from the developer’s website.
