Bjango releases Chaos Line random performance sequencer plugin.

News: Bjango releases Chaos Line random performance sequencer plugin.

Chaos Line is a new MIDI sequencing plugin designed to generate evolving, morphable random sequences for a range of musical applications. Developed as a flexible tool for pattern creation, it combines structured control with generative behaviour to support both rhythmic basslines and more experimental melodic work.

At its core, Chaos Line can create four separate sequences simultaneously. Users can blend between these sequences using a dedicated morph area, allowing for continuous variation and gradual transitions. This approach is intended to support evolving patterns rather than static loops, making it suitable for contexts where movement and variation are desired.

While the interface may initially suggest a focus on 303-style basslines, complete with accents and slides, the plugin is designed for broader use. It can be applied to lead lines, arpeggios, and modular-style experimentation. The generative design encourages the discovery of unexpected rhythmic and melodic results, with user-adjustable controls providing direction over the output.

Playback behaviour can be further shaped using selectable playback modes. These determine the order in which generated notes are played, introducing additional rhythmic and structural variation. This allows users to alter phrasing and create fills or alternate note patterns without regenerating the underlying sequences.

To help integrate generative results into specific musical contexts, Chaos Line includes a built-in note filter. This feature constrains generated notes to a chosen musical scale, enabling users to align sequences with harmonic frameworks while maintaining the plugin’s generative character.

MIDI export is supported via a drag-and-drop workflow. Once a sequence is created, users can drag the MIDI button directly into their DAW’s arrange view to capture the generated pattern as editable MIDI data. For capturing complete performances and automation, the developer notes that MIDI Memories can be used in conjunction with Chaos Line.

Chaos Line is available as an Audio Unit version 3 and VST3 plugin for macOS and Windows. It requires a host application with MIDI plugin support. The developer provides setup guides for a range of DAWs, including:

  • Ableton Live
  • Bitwig
  • Cubase
  • FL Studio
  • Logic Pro
  • Reaper

The plugin is offered as a perpetual license, with all 1.x updates included. A 30-day free trial is available. The developer states that Chaos Line operates without ads, analytics, or tracking.

Chaos Line is priced at $49, with a launch price of $39.
