Black Rooster Audio has launched PS-VC1, a vocal mixing chain plugin for macOS and Windows. The Professional Series plugin combines six vocal-processing modules in a single interface, arranged in the order Black Rooster Audio describes as a typical vocal mixing workflow.
PS-VC1 includes Low End, High End, Compress, Reverb, Echo, and Width modules. Each section has its own fader and bypass control, while the interface uses a consistent set of preset, fader, and bypass controls across the processing chain.
According to Black Rooster Audio, PS-VC1 was developed as a modern design rather than as an emulation of a specific hardware unit. The plugin presents its processing controls on one panel, without nested pages or parameter menus, and is intended to support vocal mixing from a single plug-in window. The developer states that this layout is designed to enable a vocal take to be mixed in approximately 90 seconds.
The Low End, High End, and Compress faders provide a range of ±15 dB. Reverb, Echo, and Width controls operate from 0 to 100. Individual modules can be bypassed independently.
Additional PS-VC1 features include auto makeup gain, precision LED metering, a fixed processing order, an efficient reverb design, and a scalable user interface. The plugin is available in AAX, AU, VST, and VST3 formats.
For macOS, PS-VC1 requires an Intel Core processor or Apple Silicon M1, M2, M3, or M4 processor; 1 GB of RAM; macOS 10.10 or later; a 64-bit VST, VST3, AU, or AAX-compatible host; and a display resolution of at least 1280×1024.
For Windows, the stated requirements are an SSE2-compatible processor, with an Intel Core processor recommended; 1 GB of RAM; Windows 7 or later; a 64-bit VST, VST3, or AAX-compatible host; and a display resolution of at least 1280×1024.
PS-VC1 is currently available with an introductory 38% discount. Black Rooster Audio has not specified an expiry date for the promotion.
