BLEASS has launched BLEASS Spectral Reverb, a reverb and ambience effects plugin for macOS, Windows, and Linux, with a separate version available for iPhone and iPad. The plugin is designed to shape multiple aspects of a reverb effect across the frequency spectrum using BLEASS’ Spectral Map controls and spectral processing tools.
BLEASS Spectral Reverb allows users to apply frequency-dependent changes to core reverb parameters. For example, the Attack and Decay controls can be configured with shorter times at lower frequencies and longer times at higher frequencies. Stereo width can also be shaped around selected frequency ranges, with broader width at one area of the spectrum and narrower width above and below it.
These changes are made with Spectral Map controls, which work alongside the conventional rotary control for each applicable parameter. Users can draw shapes with a mouse or touchscreen, creating smooth ramps, peaks, and troughs that define how the selected parameter changes across the frequency range.
The plugin includes four processing slots, each of which can host one of six spectral processors developed for Spectral Reverb. Several of these processors include their own Spectral Map controls, allowing additional frequency-based processing within the reverb signal.
BLEASS Spectral Reverb also supports external sidechain input. Most of its parameters are available as destinations for DAW automation and modulation systems, enabling parameter changes to be controlled over time or by compatible host modulators.
The spectral processing engine includes adjustable processing settings. According to BLEASS, these settings can be reduced to introduce a different character to the reverb output.
BLEASS Spectral Reverb is available for $39 for Mac, Linux, and Windows. A version for iPhone and iPad is available through the Apple App Store.
