Bolder Sounds has launched Celtic Pipes V3 for Logic Pro and MainStage, introducing a rebuilt version of its Celtic pipe library with expanded scripting and performance features. The update revisits the original recordings and restructures the instrument from the ground up, with a focus on integrated ornamentation and player control.
Celtic Pipes V3 is designed specifically for Logic Pro 11.2.2 or higher and MainStage 4 or higher. All patches are delivered in Logic’s native Patch format and load directly from the Library panel, allowing users to access the instruments without additional configuration inside the host.
The library features three instruments:
- Uilleann Pipes, also known as Elbow Pipes
- Scottish Highland Bagpipes
- Pub Pipes
Each instrument includes a full set of articulations managed through a new scripted ornamentation system. This system generates traditional Celtic pipe ornaments in real time, bringing performance elements directly into the DAW environment. For users who prefer alternative control methods, every instrument patch is available in both keyswitch and velocity-switching versions.
In addition to real-time scripted ornaments, the library includes a sampled Ornaments bagpipes patch built from recorded ornament performances. Ensemble patches combining the three instruments in various configurations are also provided.
Celtic Pipes V3 introduces custom scripting for vibrato and pitch bend. The vibrato script is modeled on analysis of real Uilleann pipe players and includes a graphical interface with adjustable parameters such as rate, depth, fade-in delay, and randomness. These controls are intended to allow players to tailor expressive behavior to their individual playing style. A dedicated pitch bend script is also included, offering detailed adjustment through its own GUI.
The complete download size is 170 MB and is delivered as a macOS PKG installer. The library is compatible with both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. After installation, users can open Logic Pro, create a Software Instrument track, load any virtual instrument plugin, and press “Y” to access the Library panel. The Celtic Pipes V3 folder appears under User Patches within the Bolder Sounds directory.
Previous owners of Celtic Pipes can update to Version 3 at no additional cost.
Celtic Pipes V3 is priced at $39.95. An introductory offer reduces the price to $29.95, reflecting a 25% discount valid until July 31st.
