Boz Digital Labs has recently launched two virtual piano plugins, New York L 1926 and New York L 1991. These plugins, while based on the same model, were constructed in different periods and thus offer unique sound characteristics.
The New York L bundle is a testament to the individuality of pianos, even those of the same model. The two pianos sampled for this bundle were built in 1926 and 1991. The NYL 1926 plugin captures the resonant character that only an aged piano can provide, while the NYL 1991 plugin retains the pristine, clean sound that the manufacturer is known for.
Contrary to popular belief, most pianos featured in our favorite albums were not recorded in a concert hall on a 9-foot grand piano. Instead, they were recorded on shorter, less perfect pianos in smaller rooms. The Model L, which these plugins are based on, is not your typical 9-foot concert grand piano. It measures just under 6 feet long, providing a shorter piano sound without compromising the quality of the strings’ sound. This characteristic “real” sound is what you often hear on your favorite records.
Both the NYL 1926 and NYL 1991 were sampled from multiple microphone perspectives, offering a range of sound options without overwhelming the user. Users can select between close mics for an intimate sound, to room mics that capture the entire instrument, or even blend them together. Additional features such as reverb and a 6 band Equalizer allow users to tailor the piano sound to their exact preferences.
Despite the extensive features and high-quality sound, these plugins have been designed to be lean, ensuring an incredible sounding piano without consuming excessive hard drive space.
Boz Digital Labs is offering an introductory discount of 76% off for each plugin and 70% off the bundle. This offer is valid until December 31st.
