Camp David AudioSuite has launched the Optomis 1, a first-generation two-stage compressor plugin designed for clear and transparent dynamics control. Its streamlined interface aims to provide straightforward operation for engineers at any skill level.
The Optomis 1 includes a bypassable Drive knob that adds fixed saturation in the style of an LA-2A unit. The plugin was modeled on the compression chain used at Camp David Studios in Miami, Florida, a facility with over 20 years of experience and multiple RIAA certifications, Grammy nominations, and Billboard #1 hits.
Key features of the Optomis 1 plugin include:
- Gain reduction VU metering and separate Drive metering
- Threshold control from –18 dB to 0 dB, attack and release adjustments, and ratio settings from 1:1 to 20:1
- Drive knob offering –24 dB to +9 dB of fixed saturation with on/off switch
- Makeup gain control (–12 dB to +12 dB), plus independent input and output knobs
- 18 factory presets and compatibility with AAX, VST, and AU formats on Mac and PC
The plugin integrates with major digital audio workstations including Pro Tools, FL Studio, Logic Pro, and Ableton Live. It also offers advanced input/output metering and universal compatibility with industry-standard hosts.
