News: Carbon Fiber Plugins has released La Taconuda, a physical modeling plate reverb plugin.

Carbon Fiber Plugins has launched La Taconuda, a physical modelling plate reverb plugin designed to simulate resonant metal structures. The plugin offers 12 plate-based structures and controls intended to range from compact plate-style reverbs to extended metallic resonance and drone-oriented effects.

La Taconuda uses physical modelling rather than static impulse responses. According to Carbon Fiber Plugins, incoming transients dynamically excite the modelled metal surfaces, allowing the reverb response to change in relation to the input signal.

The plugin includes six resonant alloy types and parameters for adjusting the behaviour of each plate. Its controls cover plate dimensions, material thickness and tension, alongside stereo pickup microphone placement. These settings are intended to shape the resonance, decay and stereo presentation of the generated reverb.

La Taconuda provides two interface modes. Play Mode presents a reduced set of macro controls for quicker adjustment during tracking, mixing or stem printing. The available controls are Drive, Decay, Width, Tone and Mix.

Advanced Mode provides access to the plugin’s physical modelling and processing parameters, including:

  • Plate size, thickness and tension controls
  • Adjustable stereo pickup microphone positions
  • Ducking for managing the reverb signal alongside lead material
  • Pre-filtering and a three-band tone EQ

Carbon Fiber Plugins states that the wider parameter ranges can also be used for sound-design applications, including sustained metallic textures and unconventional resonant effects. The product’s name references La Taconuda, a figure from Nicaraguan oral folklore associated with the resonant sound of high heels on streets and stone surfaces.

La Taconuda is priced at $85. Carbon Fiber Plugins is offering a launch price of $59 until November 2.
