Creature From The Black has launched Spazio Liminale, a reverb instrument designed around exploring virtual environments on foot. Available for Windows, the software uses four first-person worlds as interactive spaces whose physical characteristics determine the reverb response.
Rather than selecting a conventional room type or adjusting a single space control, Spazio Liminale invites users to move through an environment and locate a desired acoustic area. The developer describes the process as walking through a space until its size, surfaces, ceiling, walls and reflections create the required sound.
The instrument includes four explorable worlds:
- Backrooms
- Night Forest
- Catacombs
- Red Room
Each environment contains corridors, tunnels, open areas and other locations with different acoustic properties. Once a suitable location has been found, users can freeze the reverb while retaining movement in the surrounding atmosphere.
Spazio Liminale also includes ambient material within each world, including drones, resonators, breaths, infrasound, distant events and anomalies. The AMBIENCE control can be set to zero when only the reverb processing is required.
The release is intended for sound design and music-production workflows where users want to combine spatial reverb with environmental sound layers, as well as for use as a standalone reverb effect.
Spazio Liminale is provided as a VST3 plug-in and standalone application for 64-bit Windows systems.
