Dawesome Music has launched Kontrast, a new wavetable synthesizer plugin for Windows and Mac. The software aims to offer an organic and intuitive sound design experience without requiring in-depth technical knowledge.
Kontrast departs from traditional wavetable instruments by using a nonlinear scanning method that creates evolving and dynamic timbres. The interface is designed for immediacy, allowing users to shape sounds quickly without navigating complex parameter menus.
The plugin includes a range of tools to support diverse sound design workflows:
- Analog-style filters and a built-in step sequencer
- MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) compatibility
- Flexible effect modules and extensive modulation options
- A library of factory presets covering multiple genres
Kontrast is compatible with AU, VST, and AAX formats on both Windows and macOS platforms. It integrates seamlessly with most digital audio workstations and supports sample rates up to 192 kHz. Users can import custom wavetables or choose from the bundled collection to craft unique textures.
The design emphasizes rapid workflow: tweaking a single control can generate complex results, and the preset browser lets producers find starting points in seconds. Modulation sources can be assigned with drag-and-drop simplicity, and the effects chain can be reordered to suit individual needs.
Kontrast is available directly from Dawesome Music and through the Tracktion online store. The plugin runs natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs without the need for emulation layers.
