DeadLoop has launched MoonPad, a new synthesizer plugin for Windows and macOS. The instrument introduces a polyphonic synthesis engine with integrated effects and modulation tools, marking the company’s first software release.
MoonPad is built around a 128-voice polyphonic engine and is developed in C++ using JUCE. According to the developer, the instrument is designed to operate without relying on large sample libraries, focusing instead on real-time synthesis and processing.
The core of MoonPad is a dual-oscillator engine offering six waveform types. Sound shaping is supported by 12 filter models and a modulation matrix for routing modulation sources to various parameters. The instrument also includes an arpeggiator and a trance gate for rhythmic pattern creation.
Among its integrated effects are:
- Shimmer reverb
- Tidal granular engine
- Multiband compressor
- Parametric EQ
The shimmer reverb and granular processing modules are designed to expand the spatial and textural possibilities of the synthesizer. The granular engine allows users to manipulate audio at a micro level, while the shimmer reverb introduces pitch-shifted ambience within the signal chain.
MoonPad features what DeadLoop describes as a lunar-themed interface. The graphical design presents controls within an immersive visual environment, with parameters arranged for direct access to oscillators, filters, modulation, and effects. A built-in preset browser enables users to save, organize, and manage sounds.
The plugin ships with more than 50 factory presets across nine categories. These presets are intended to demonstrate the range of the synthesis engine and provide starting points for further customization.
MoonPad is compatible with a wide range of digital audio workstations, including:

The plugin is available in VST3 format for Windows and macOS, AU format for macOS, and as a standalone application. It supports Windows 10 or later and macOS 11 Big Sur or later, with compatibility for both Intel and Apple Silicon systems.
System requirements for Windows include a 64-bit version of Windows 10 or later, an Intel or AMD processor with SSE2 support, a minimum of 4 GB RAM, and an OpenGL 3.2 compatible GPU. On macOS, MoonPad requires macOS 11 or later, Intel or Apple Silicon hardware, at least 4 GB RAM, and an OpenGL 3.2 compatible GPU.
