DiscoDSP, a software company, has recently released an update to their classic synthesizer, OB-Xd, bringing it to version 3.0. The OB-Xd synthesizer, known for its rich tones and expansive sound design capabilities, is a favorite among musicians and producers seeking to infuse a vintage touch into their music.
The OB-Xd synthesizer is designed to emulate the sound and behavior of the Oberheim OB-X, a link to which can be found here. While the original design of the Oberheim OB-X had its limitations, the OB-Xd has incorporated a number of additional or altered features to enhance its performance. One such feature is the implementation of micro random detuning, which contributes to a fuller, richer sound. The OB-Xd aims to produce a sound quality that matches, if not surpasses, the original Oberheim OB-X.
The OB-Xd is available for free for non-commercial use. For commercial use, a license can be purchased at a cost of $49, with no expiry date. Users who purchased OB-Xd 2.14 after November 1st are eligible for a free update to version 3.0. For others, an upgrade to version 3.0 is available for $9.99 in the discoDSP Members Area.
