Driftlab Audio Releases RefTrack Pro, a Free Browser-Based Mix Analysis Tool.

News: Driftlab Audio Releases RefTrack Pro, a Free Browser-Based Mix Analysis Tool.

Driftlab Audio has launched RefTrack Pro, a free browser-based mix analysis tool designed to run entirely within a web browser. The company states that the tool requires no account, no file upload, and performs all processing locally on the user’s computer.

RefTrack Pro provides a set of analysis features intended to assist users in evaluating their mixes against reference material. According to Driftlab Audio, the tool includes loudness metering, spectrum analysis, stereo width measurement, and streaming readiness information within a single interface.

Users can load their own mix alongside an optional reference track for direct comparison. The tool offers loudness-matched A/B playback, normalizing both signals to the same perceived volume level. This approach is intended to remove loudness bias when comparing two tracks, allowing users to focus on tonal balance, stereo image, and overall dynamics without differences in playback level influencing perception.

RefTrack Pro applies genre-aware loudness targets rather than relying on a single universal benchmark. Driftlab Audio notes that mastering conventions can vary significantly between styles such as electronic, jazz, classical, and other genres. The tool’s analysis framework reflects these differences by adjusting its reference targets according to the selected genre.

The browser-based application also identifies specific conditions that may affect measurement accuracy. Short audio clips and content with substantial low-frequency energy below 30 Hz are flagged where relevant, indicating situations in which standard loudness measurements may be less reliable. This design choice is intended to provide contextual information alongside the reported data.

Key features include:

  • Loudness metering with genre-aware targets
  • Spectrum analysis and stereo width measurement
  • Loudness-matched A/B comparison with an optional reference track
  • Streaming readiness information
  • Local, in-browser processing with no file uploads

RefTrack Pro runs entirely in the browser and does not require installation. Driftlab Audio states that no audio data leaves the user’s computer during operation. The tool is accessible via the company’s website.

Driftlab Audio also develops VST3 plugins for Windows, which are available separately through its website.

RefTrack Pro is available free of charge at https://driftlabaudio.com/reftrackpro. No installation is required.
