Dystopian Waves Launches Auren Pro Spectral Delay Plugin and Max for Live Device.

News: Dystopian Waves Launches Auren Pro Spectral Delay Plugin and Max for Live Device.

Dystopian Waves has launched Auren Pro, a spectral delay plugin for Windows along with a Max for Live edition. The release introduces a multi-band delay design focused on detailed spectral processing and flexible routing for time-based sound design.

Auren Pro is built around a spectral approach to delay, processing audio across multiple frequency bands rather than applying delay uniformly across the full signal. In the standard plugin version, each delay operates across 50 frequency bands, enabling per-band control over delay behaviour and routing.

The plugin features two independent multi-band delay taps. Each tap can operate with its own settings and routing configuration, allowing layered or contrasting delay structures within a single instance.

Source routing is a central part of the design. Users can assign multiple audio sources to each delay:

  • Each delay can use two audio sources, while Delay 2 supports up to four sources simultaneously.
  • Individual frequency bands can use different sources or combinations of sources.
  • Blend controls allow crossfading between sources, and Shuffle sequencers define per-band source selection for evolving routing patterns.

Each delay tap includes a dedicated multi-band sequencer. Within these sequencers, users can draw custom delay time curves, introduce randomized patterns, or apply smooth modulation to delay times and feedback gains. Independent Draw and Random modes are available for delay times, feedback, shuffling, and frequency shifting parameters, supporting step-based or evolving modulation structures.

Delay 1 includes a spectral frequency shifting function for per-band harmonic manipulation. The plugin also provides two band-mapping algorithms and advanced curve mapping controls, enabling detailed adjustment of how the frequency spectrum is divided and processed.

Series and Parallel configurations are available, referred to as Cascade and Parallel modes, allowing the two delay taps to operate sequentially or side by side.

A built-in reverb section is included for additional spatial processing. The reverb provides controls for Decay, Size factor Damping, Mix, and Freeze, enabling further shaping of the delayed signal within the same interface.

The graphical interface combines global controls, multi-band sequencers, and per-band processing parameters in a unified layout designed for direct parameter access.

Key features of Auren Pro include:

  • Dual multi-band delay taps with independent control
  • Processing across 50 frequency bands per delay
  • Per-band source assignment and combination
  • Up to four simultaneous sources in Delay 2
  • Two band-mapping algorithms
  • Series (Cascade) and Parallel operation modes
  • Per-band Blend and Shuffle routing
  • Spectral frequency shifting
  • Independent scrubbing and smooth movement controls per sequencer
  • Integrated reverb with Freeze function

In addition to the Windows plugin, Dystopian Waves has released a Max for Live version of Auren. The Max for Live edition operates with a 20-band spectral delay structure and retains the dual delay taps, source routing system, sequencers, frequency shifting, and integrated reverb section. It also provides adjustable control over the number of frequency bands used in processing, along with the same routing, sequencing, and modulation concepts as the plugin version.

The release is intended for sound designers, producers, and experimental musicians working with detailed spectral processing and evolving delay structures in studio or live performance contexts.

Auren Pro is currently available at an introductory 60% discount, priced at $20, with the promotion running until March 10th.
