Elastic Sounds has launched Obscura Flux, a clarinet soundscape sample library featuring tempo-synchronised patterns and a true legato arpeggiator. The release is the second entry in the developer’s Flux Series and combines bass clarinet and soprano clarinet performances.
Obscura Flux is designed for creating melodic and textural clarinet parts that follow a host project’s tempo. The library includes 32 tempo-synchronised patterns spanning the available bass and soprano clarinet ranges.
Patterns can be layered within the instrument, with controls for double-time playback, panning and pitch adjustment during use. Elastic Sounds also includes integrated effects for reverb, delay, tape saturation, and high-pass and low-pass filtering.
A central feature is the library’s true legato arpeggiator. According to Elastic Sounds, transitions between notes within one octave of the preceding note use recorded clarinet transitions rather than generated legato processing. The combined range of the bass and soprano clarinets provides nearly four octaves of true-legato arpeggiation.
The library’s recorded material is intended to allow users to create custom clarinet patterns while retaining the sampled transitions between notes. Obscura Flux can also be used alongside Aurea Flux, Elastic Sounds’ saxophone soundscape library, as part of the Flux Series.
Obscura Flux is priced at $49.95, with an introductory price of $29.95 for a limited period. The Flux Series Bundle, which includes Obscura Flux and Aurea Flux, is priced at $74.95 and is available for $49.95 during the Obscura Flux introductory period.
