Infernus Strings is a new solo horror strings library designed for use with Kontakt 6.8 or later. The instrument focuses on tense, unsettling textures created from detailed recordings of four solo string instruments.
The library is built around an additive matrix system, allowing users to combine and manipulate recorded material into layered, evolving sounds. According to the developer, the matrix structure is intended to provide direct control over blending and shaping multiple sources, enabling a wide range of sustained, building, and atmospheric string textures.
Infernus Strings is based on recordings of solo double bass, cello, violin, and viola, performed by professional string players. The material has been captured in stereo at 24-bit/48kHz resolution. The total library size is 3.85GB.
The additive matrix is designed to let users construct complex combinations from the recorded sources. By layering and adjusting elements within the matrix, composers and sound designers can create custom textures suited to horror scoring, suspense cues, and other atmospheric contexts.
