fedDSP Launches bigBASS saturation plugin.

News: fedDSP Launches bigBASS saturation plugin.

fedDSP has launched bigBASS, a zero-latency harmonic enhancement plug-in designed to shape and reinforce low-frequency content. The new processor is intended for producers, mixers, and beatmakers seeking greater depth, weight, and harmonic character in their mixes.

bigBASS is built around several processing stages aimed at enhancing low-end presence while maintaining responsiveness in real time. According to fedDSP, the plug-in draws on extended experimentation with low-frequency integration in modern productions and offers multiple approaches to building bass weight.

The core low-frequency section includes three main controls:

  • RESO, designed to deliver clean and focused bass enhancement.
  • GRIT, which introduces harmonic distortion to help bass elements translate more effectively on smaller speakers.
  • DRIVE, a proprietary saturation stage developed to increase perceived thickness and density in the low end.

In addition to the low-frequency processing, bigBASS features a dedicated HI section. This stage is intended to add edge, presence, and upper harmonic movement, allowing users to shape both the fundamental and overtone content within a single interface.

Several global and advanced controls are also included. A HEADROOM knob adjusts the internal headroom of the processor and works in conjunction with the input and output controls to support structured gain staging. A transformer emulation stage can be engaged to introduce additional tonal character. The plug-in also provides a global Mix control for parallel processing, enabling users to blend the processed and unprocessed signals directly within the interface.

To manage peak levels, bigBASS incorporates a final limiter designed to clamp peaks exceeding 0 dBFS. This stage operates as the last step in the signal chain.

bigBASS operates with zero latency, making it suitable for both mixing and production workflows where real-time responsiveness is required.

The plug-in is available in the following formats:

  • macOS: AU, VST3, and AAX
  • Windows: VST3 and AAX

On macOS, bigBASS supports both Apple Silicon and Intel systems, running natively on Apple Silicon without requiring Rosetta, while remaining compatible with Rosetta if needed. System requirements are macOS 10.13 or higher for Mac users, and Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) for Windows users. A minimum of 2GB RAM and 30MB of free disk space are required.

Each license allows up to three simultaneous activations per user. A fully featured trial version is available, with brief intermittent silences. Updates are provided free of charge, and a full user manual is accessible via the developer’s website.

bigBASS is priced at £60, currently available for £40 as part of a 30% introductory offer valid until 28 May 2026 at 9pm UK time. Customers who purchase during this period will also join the Founders’ Club.
