News: fedDSP Launches stereo2mono Audio Processing Tool.

fedDSP has launched stereo2mono, a utility plugin designed to streamline multitrack preparation before mixing, editing, mastering, or delivery. The tool focuses on identifying mono-in-stereo files and converting them into true mono while leaving genuine stereo material unchanged.

stereo2mono is intended for producers and mixing engineers who regularly receive multitrack sessions containing stereo files that carry identical information on both channels. By detecting these files and converting them to mono, the plugin helps reduce unnecessary file size and session load, resulting in more efficient project organisation.

According to fedDSP, the process leaves original source files untouched. Converted files are exported into a new folder, allowing users to maintain their existing directory structure if desired. The tool is designed to deliver consistent and predictable output across sessions.

In addition to mono detection and conversion, stereo2mono includes several file preparation features:

  • Resampling to a specified target sample rate
  • Bit depth preservation or conversion
  • Peak normalisation to a chosen dBFS target
  • Detection and flagging of clipped files
  • Automatic skipping of empty files and duplicates

The plugin supports WAV and AIFF file formats, including .wav, .wave, .aif, and .aiff extensions. It processes mono and stereo files and automatically skips files containing more than two channels. This defines its scope as a focused utility for standard mono and stereo multitrack preparation.

fedDSP states that stereo2mono operates quickly and does not require an iLok account or an internet connection to run. It is available in AU, AAX, and VST3 formats, making it compatible with a wide range of modern DAWs.

The company behind the release, fedDSP Ltd, is registered in England and Wales under Company Number 16604307 and operates under the trading name fedDSP. The developer focuses on tools designed with ultra-low CPU overhead and zero latency operation.

stereo2mono is available until 18 June 2026 at 9pm UK time at an introductory price of £20, reduced from the regular price of £50. The listed price includes VAT and applicable sales taxes.
