FKFX Audio Releases DawNote - Free Mobile-to-DAW Workflow.

News: FKFX Audio Releases DawNote – Free Mobile-to-DAW Workflow.

FKFX Audio has launched DawNote, a mobile-to-DAW companion app designed to help music producers capture voice notes and creative decisions away from the studio. The system connects a mobile app for iOS and Android with a dedicated VST3 and AU plug-in, enabling timestamped notes to return to the correct position inside a DAW project.

DawNote is built around a local Wi-Fi workflow that allows users to transfer mixes from their DAW or computer directly to a mobile device without cables or cloud services. Once transferred, producers can listen to their track on a phone or tablet, record voice notes at specific points in the timeline, and later send those notes back into the DAW.

The returned notes are received inside the dedicated DawNote plug-in, where they are aligned automatically to the correct project and timeline position. Notes can be previewed within the plug-in, complete with crossfades and timing indicators, or dragged into the DAW as a single synchronized WAV file, similar to a standard audio recording.

The workflow is structured as follows:

  • Transfer mixes from a DAW or computer to the DawNote mobile app over local Wi-Fi.
  • Listen and record timestamped voice notes at precise positions in the track.
  • Use the “Send Notes to DAW” function to return notes to the correct project.
  • Preview or drag the synchronized notes into the DAW from the DawNote plug-in.

The mobile app is available for both iOS and Android. It supports recording timestamped voice notes while listening, with additional features intended to support flexible working environments. These include hands-free recording via Bluetooth media controls, adjustable pre-roll for reviewing context, scrubbing within long notes, and saved playback positions per track between sessions.

Users can load audio files directly onto their mobile device or transfer them from a computer via Wi-Fi sync. Supported audio formats include MP3, WAV, and AIF. The app also offers zipped WAV export with synchronized notes, password-protected project sharing, input level control, color tagging, and full project and note management with automatic cleanup options. Additional features include optional swipe navigation, light mode, support for 22 languages, a manual IP connection option, and a sync-on-startup setting.

On the desktop side, DawNote includes two free components for macOS and Windows:

  • DawNote Studio, a lightweight desktop application that acts as a local server for mobile connections.
  • The DawNote plug-in, available in VST3 and AU formats, for receiving and managing synced notes inside a DAW.

The plug-in automatically filters synced notes to the appropriate project. Within the interface, users can preview notes with timing indicators and export them via drag and drop as synchronized WAV files to any track in the session.

In addition to the free version, FKFX Audio offers DawNote Pro, which expands the mobile feature set for more complex studio workflows. Pro features include:

  • Studio Stream: Record timestamped notes while listening directly through the studio computer over Wi-Fi.
  • A/B Reference Tracks: Compare a mix against external reference tracks or previous versions on mobile.
  • Note Queue: Hold recorded notes and send them to the DAW at a chosen time.

The Pro version also increases project capacity and track limits. DawNote Free supports up to two projects, three tracks per project, and a maximum track duration of 11 minutes. DawNote Pro supports up to 10 projects, 25 tracks per project, and unlimited track duration, along with unlimited project sharing.

DawNote is available as a mobile app for iOS and Android, with companion desktop support for macOS and Windows. The plug-in component supports VST3 and AU formats.

DawNote is available as a free version with the core mobile-to-plug-in workflow included. DawNote Pro is available at a $39 launch price, with a regular price of $79. Licenses are offered as a one-time purchase.
