Fuse Audio Labs has recently launched VPRE-72, a vintage tube preamp plugin that is available for free for both Windows and Mac users. This plugin is a faithful emulation of the classic preamp that was released in the early 1950s and used by several iconic brands such as Maihak, TAB, Siemens, and TFK.
The VPRE-72 is based on the legendary V72 preamp, which has been a staple in the music industry since the 1950s. This preamp became the blueprint for the later V76 and the classic REDD.47 preamps, which were used extensively during numerous Beatles recording sessions. The VPRE-72 aims to capture the unique spirit of these classic preamps, offering users a chance to experience the magic of vintage studio equipment.
The VPRE-72 plugin is designed to emulate the unique sound of the original preamp. It replicates the input and output transformers, the dual EF804s pentode circuit with its peculiar feedback structure, as well as the heavy output choke which produces a subtle touch of air. This is why the VPRE-72 can be heard on countless kicks, snares, vocals, and basses all over the world.
The VPRE-72 is as straightforward as it gets. Users can use the Drive control to apply as much tube circuit glory as their signal needs, or even push it a little further for some gentle and truly musical saturation. Regardless of how far you go, the gain is always compensated, and the added V76-style low and high cut filters let you shape the results to your liking in no time at all.
While the best things in life may not always be free, the VPRE-72 is an exception. Fuse Audio Labs is offering this highly sought after vintage device emulation completely for free, without any conditions. Users are encouraged to enjoy it and make full use of the tried and trusted grouping feature, which comes in super handy when using the preamp as the first insert across your session.
