Fuse Audio Labs has released VREV-63 Surf Spring Reverb. This software is a modern recreation of the iconic tube-driven spring reverb from the 1960s, known for its unique sound that has inspired countless artists across various genres.
Surf Sound, Inc. has brought back the legendary sound of the 60s with the VREV-63. This software is a faithful reincarnation of the tube-driven spring reverb that became synonymous with the surf guitar sound. When used in front of an amp, the VREV-63 produces a distinctive, drippy and splashy sound that has been a source of inspiration for numerous reggae, dub, garage, rockabilly, jazz, and spaghetti western artists. The software allows users to create incredibly long and inspiring reverb tails, providing a unique and immersive playing experience.
The VREV-63’s reverb intensity and time can be adjusted using the Dwell knob, which controls how hard the springs are hit by the input signal. The Tone control allows users to dial back the treble to achieve the perfect degree of brightness. One of the key features of the VREV-63 is the famous tone suck effect, which impacts high frequencies. This effect, which is a fundamental yet switchable part of the lush sound, is a result of the authentic emulation of the tone and mixer circuits.
The VREV-63 also includes some popular modifications that greatly enhance its flexibility. These include the C10 capacitor mod, which provides a deeper and richer reverb sound, easy tube rolling between a NOS 6K6 and the hotter 6V6, and a selection of three different spring tanks. These features allow users to customize the sound to their liking, and to experiment with different tones and effects without damaging their hardware.
Despite its reputation for producing the classic surf sound, the VREV-63 is by no means limited to this genre. Over time, it has proven to be versatile and inspiring on a wide range of instruments, including synths, vocals, and strings. Whether you’re looking to recreate the iconic sound of the 60s or to explore new sonic territories, the VREV-63 is a powerful and flexible tool that can help you achieve your musical vision.
