GForce Software has launched MAP, a synthesizer plugin for Mac and Windows. Drawing on the architecture of 1970s modular systems, MAP combines oscillators, filters, and effects within a single interface.
MAP takes inspiration from classic modular designs by Serge and Buchla, offering a flexible signal flow and extensive modulation options. It is designed to replicate the workflow of hardware modules while providing modern control features.
The plugin features a triple oscillator configuration with waveshaping and frequency modulation. Users can route signals through two filter stages—a multimode filter and a five-band resonant EQ—and apply custom delay, reverb, and character effects.
Modulation is handled through an intuitive system that supports MPE, enabling expressive performance controls. A generative polyphonic arpeggiator works in tandem with XY pad macros that can be assigned to both oscillator and filter sections.
Key features include:
- Triple oscillator setup with waveshaping and FM
- Dual filters: multimode filter plus five-band resonant EQ
- MPE-compatible modulation system
- Generative arpeggiator and performative XY pad macros
- Custom delay, reverb, and character effects
- Over 300 factory presets and scalable light/dark interface
MAP is available in multiple plugin formats. On macOS, it runs natively on Intel and Apple Silicon, and supports AudioUnit, AAX, VST2, VST3, or standalone operation. Windows users can load MAP as a standalone application, VST, VST3, or AAX plugin.
Minimum requirements for Mac are macOS 10.15 or later and 4 GB of RAM. Windows systems require a 1 GHz CPU or faster, Windows 7 or newer, and 4 GB of RAM.
A seven-day demo version is available for download, featuring over 100 alpha patches drawn from the full library of 300 presets.
The introductory price of £49.99 (ex VAT), reduced from £99.99, is available until November 2.
