TWD DLX III is a new guitar amplifier plugin developed as an evolution of the original TWD DLX by the same author. Building on a virtual model of the 5E3 circuit associated with the Fender Tweed Deluxe, the updated version introduces additional controls, refinements, and a redesigned graphical interface.
The earlier TWD DLX plugin emulated the classic 5E3 circuit while offering several circuit variants and a universal tone stack. TWD DLX III expands on that foundation with new features intended to provide greater control over the virtual amplifier’s behaviour and response.
Among the additions in TWD DLX III are:
- Adjustable power supply sagging
- A master volume control
- Enhanced overall sound quality
- A redesigned graphical user interface
The adjustable power supply sag parameter is designed to let users shape the dynamic response associated with vintage tube amplifier power sections. The inclusion of a master volume control allows for independent adjustment of overall output level, offering additional flexibility in gain staging within a digital audio workstation.
According to the developer, the plugin is capable of producing a broad range of vintage guitar amplifier tones. In addition to traditional voicings, it is also designed to accommodate modern guitar sounds through its extended control set and circuit options.
TWD DLX III focuses exclusively on the emulation of a guitar amplifier head. It does not include speaker cabinet simulation. For cabinet emulation, users are expected to load external impulse responses using a separate IR loader. As with hardware guitar amplifiers, pairing the amp simulation with an appropriate cabinet impulse response is necessary to achieve a balanced and natural guitar tone.
The plugin is released in JSFX format and runs natively within the Reaper digital audio workstation. For use in other plugin hosts, it can operate via the YSFX bridge plugin developed by Joep Vanlier. YSFX is available free of charge in VST3, AU, and CLAP formats for Windows, macOS, and Linux, enabling broader compatibility across different production environments.
TWD DLX III is intended for guitarists, producers, and engineers working in software-based recording setups who require a configurable virtual amplifier platform within Reaper or compatible hosts through bridging solutions.
