Hivetune has launched Delta6, a six-operator FM synthesizer plugin built around an open modulation matrix. Delta6 is designed to let users create and view custom frequency modulation routing configurations rather than selecting from a fixed set of FM algorithms.
The plugin’s modulation matrix allows operators to be routed freely, with the signal flow displayed visually within the interface. This approach supports custom FM structures and operator-to-operator modulation paths.
Delta6 includes six FM operators, each with individual tuning, level, waveform, and ADSR envelope controls. Five waveform options are available for the operators: sine, triangle, saw, square, and noise. Operator 6 additionally includes a dedicated feedback control.
Alongside its FM functions, Delta6 provides several sound-shaping and performance features:
- Drift control for analog-style pitch variation.
- Built-in reverb with adjustable size and mix parameters.
- A chorus effect inspired by hardware chorus circuits.
- Velocity sensitivity for response to playing dynamics.
The synthesizer supports up to 16 voices of polyphony. It also includes a monophonic mode with Legato operation, intended for single-note parts such as bass and lead sounds.
For preset management, Delta6 includes a preset browser as well as options to save and load custom patches. A dice button can be used to generate random presets.
