Holistic DSP has launched FORMBREAKER RND RADIO, a free web-based random groove generator built around the audio engine of its forthcoming FORMBREAKER plugin. The browser tool generates electronic loops from a user-entered seed and a selectable DISORDER setting, with WAV export and patch-sharing functions.
FORMBREAKER RND RADIO uses elements of the planned FORMBREAKER system’s BEAT, BASS and SLICE sections, alongside built-in effects and randomisation. Users can create a new loop by selecting one of three DISORDER modes, TAME, WILD or CURSED, and either entering a seed value or generating a new one.
The seed functions as a repeatable patch identifier. Loading the same seed recreates the same starting form, while a shareable URL allows another user to open that patch in RND RADIO. The tool also displays an animated waveform during playback, reflecting the generated audio in real time.
According to Holistic DSP, the three DISORDER settings determine the degree of variation applied during generation:
- TAME is intended to produce more focused patterns.
- WILD introduces a greater degree of variation.
- CURSED applies more extensive randomisation, including less regular rhythmic structures, altered tones and more pronounced effects processing.
Each generated patch can be exported as a 16-bar WAV file for use in a DAW or other audio software. The generator is intended to provide material such as rhythm patterns, bass movement, processed textures and combinations of sound sources generated through its randomised parameters.
RND RADIO offers an early public implementation of the wider FORMBREAKER project, which Holistic DSP is developing as a six-unit modular audio suite. The planned plugin will include BEAT, SLICE, BASS, STUTTER, DESTROY and SMEAR modules arranged in a reorderable serial rack.
The announced FORMBREAKER feature set combines synthesised drum generation, sample chopping, granular processing, FM bass synthesis, glitch-oriented effects and signal-processing tools. Holistic DSP is also developing FORMBREAKER DESTROY as a separate product focused on the project’s destructive processing chain.
FORMBREAKER DESTROY is planned to include crush, decimation, wavefolding, ring modulation, comb filtering, filtering and drive processing. Holistic DSP describes the standalone tool as being designed for reshaping clean or conventional source material through these processes.
FORMBREAKER RND RADIO is available through the FORMBREAKER website. The full FORMBREAKER plugin and FORMBREAKER DESTROY are currently in development.
