Insanity Samples has launched Silver Screen Studio Orchestra, a complete scoring collection featuring individually recorded orchestral sections. The library brings together core symphonic instruments across woodwinds, brass, strings, pitched percussion, and unpitched percussion, presented as a 50-piece contemporary scoring orchestra.
Silver Screen Studio Orchestra is designed to provide a detailed and flexible orchestral toolkit suited to film, television, and game scoring. The collection focuses on a contemporary studio orchestra format, with individual instrument sections recorded separately to allow for precise arrangement and mixing.
The library comprises 40 unique instrument sections and includes 122,000 samples. It occupies 63GB of disk space after lossless compression. Each instrument offers up to 18 articulations, depending on the section, with up to eight round robins per articulation and up to four dynamic layers alongside performance-based velocity and dynamics control.
Five microphone signals are included for each instrument:
- Close
- Decca
- Outriggers
- Ambient
- Mix
This multi-microphone setup is intended to provide flexibility in shaping the spatial perspective of arrangements, from focused close placements to more expansive room blends.
The full instrument roster is organised into the following sections:
- Woodwinds: Piccolo, Flutes, Oboes, Clarinets, Bassoon
- Brass: French Horns, Trumpets, Trombones, Tuba

According to Insanity Samples, the collection is intended to support detailed orchestral writing across a range of genres, while reflecting the scale and intimacy of a modern scoring orchestra. The inclusion of multiple articulations, round robins, and dynamic layers is designed to enable nuanced performance programming across the full ensemble.
