iZotope has announced RX 12, the latest version of its audio editing and restoration suite. The update expands the platform with new machine learning tools, workflow refinements, and enhanced source separation capabilities across its range of modules.
RX 12 continues as a comprehensive ecosystem of more than 50 tools designed for audio repair, restoration, and detailed editing. The suite is used across music production, post-production, broadcast, podcasting, and content creation workflows, providing both standalone and plugin-based processing options.
One of the headline additions in RX 12 is Scene Rebalance. Designed for film and television material, it separates mixed scenes into distinct dialogue, music, and effects components. This enables users to rebalance and edit individual elements without access to the original multitrack session.
Supporting this workflow is the new Stems View. Using Scene Rebalance, Music Rebalance, or Dialogue Isolate, users can split mixed audio into track-based stems within RX. Each stem can then be processed independently using the full RX toolkit before being exported and recombined as needed.
De-bleed has been rebuilt for RX 12. The updated module uses machine learning to isolate competing instruments or remove headphone bleed without requiring a reference track. It is now also available as a real-time plugin, allowing use directly within a DAW environment.
Music Rebalance has been enhanced with updated neural networks and is now offered as a standalone real-time plugin. The module enables adjustment of vocals, bass, percussion, and other musical elements within a mixed file. Intended uses include remix preparation, vocal stem creation, and rebalancing existing mixes.
Dialogue Isolate has also received updated neural network processing. The module provides real-time and offline reduction of noise and reverb in dialogue and vocal recordings. It is designed for applications including film, television, podcast production, and music vocal processing.
RX 12 introduces Trim Silence, a new tool that automatically detects and removes silent regions within long audio files. This feature is aimed at workflows involving extended dialogue recordings such as podcasts, audiobooks, and voiceover sessions.
The interface has been updated with workflow improvements, including:
- A larger spectrogram display
- A new module search function
- A resizable history panel
- General visual and usability refinements
RX 12 is available in three editions, each designed for different production needs:
- RX 12 Advanced: A complete suite of more than 50 tools intended for professional post-production environments.
- RX 12 Standard: A streamlined collection of modules and plugins focused on music production and general audio repair tasks.
- RX 12 Elements: A six-plugin bundle centered around the Repair Assistant, designed for quick and accessible audio cleanup.
iZotope has also revised its loyalty pricing structure, offering updated discounts for users of recent and earlier RX versions, as well as other iZotope products and bundles.
