Jamstik Introduces LOON, A New Software Instrument Built Around Multiple Signal Paths.

News: Jamstik Introduces LOON, A New Software Instrument Built Around Multiple Signal Paths.

Jamstik has launched LOON, a new software instrument designed to combine expressive synthesis with a performance-focused workflow. Available as both a standalone application and a plugin for macOS and Windows, LOON brings together layered sound design and modern synthesis within a single creative environment.

Released on July 15, 2026, LOON is offered in VST3, AU, and AAX formats alongside its standalone version. The instrument is intended for musicians, producers, composers, sound designers, and guitarists seeking an integrated approach to building and performing sounds.

At the core of LOON is a three-layer, multitimbral architecture. Each layer operates as an independent signal path, complete with its own instruments, effects, modulation, and performance controls. This structure enables users to construct complete instruments within a single preset, ranging from straightforward patches to more detailed, layered textures.

Each layer incorporates multiple synthesis methods and processing tools, including:

  • Synthesis and FM capabilities
  • Sampling
  • Advanced filtering
  • Integrated effects
  • Modulation controls

Six assignable macro controls are available per preset, providing consolidated access to key parameters for real-time adjustment. LOON also supports full MIDI Polyphonic Expression, allowing compatible controllers to modulate parameters on a per-note basis for detailed expressive control.

LOON was initially developed alongside Jamstik’s expressive MIDI guitar platform. During development, it expanded into a standalone instrument designed to support a broader range of users, including keyboardists and composers working within digital audio workstations.

According to Jamstik, the design objective behind LOON was to make advanced sound design more approachable through a streamlined workflow. The interface and feature set are structured to encourage exploration while maintaining access to detailed synthesis and modulation capabilities.

In addition to its synthesis engine, LOON includes a curated factory library. The included sounds are intended to provide an immediate starting point for everyday instrument patches as well as more expansive textures and evolving soundscapes. Users can modify these presets or build new sounds using the three-layer architecture.

LOON is available now as a standalone application and as a VST3, AU, and AAX plugin for macOS and Windows systems.

LOON is available at an introductory price of $49.99 USD, reduced from its regular price of $99.99 USD for a limited time.
