Kilohearts has launched a new waveshaper plugin named Shaper. This product, which is part of the Kilohearts Essentials collection, is available for free to all users.
Shaper is a freeform distortion plugin that has been designed to cater to all distortion needs. It allows users to create custom distortion shapes or choose from a variety of shapes available in the included factory library. The plugin comes equipped with a graph that visualizes the remapping of audio and a remap selector for choosing a remap from the Remaps browser.
In addition to these features, Shaper also includes a drive knob that amplifies the input signal for heavier distortion, a DC filter that corrects any DC offset introduced by the distortion, and a dry/wet mix effect. Users have the flexibility to select what happens beyond the edges of the wave shape curve, with options to repeat the wave, hold the edge value, or repeat with mirroring.
Shaper is a part of the Kilohearts Ecosystem, which is a growing collection of plugins that can be used as regular plugins (VST/AAX/AU) or as Snapins in Kilohearts’ modular Snapin Hosts; Phase Plant, Multipass, and Snap Heap. These plugins are known for their lightweight, high-quality, and intuitive interfaces.
To use Shaper, the system requirements include a PC or Mac (M1 Native supported) with a 2 GHz or faster CPU, 1 GB or more memory, and any DAW supporting VST 2, VST 3, AAX, or Audio Unit plugin standards. All plugin formats are in 64-bit only. Kilohearts recommends users to keep their OS versions up to date as they become available.
