Korg has launched Filter Ark for Mac and Windows, a new filter design plugin focused on placing filters at the centre of the sound creation process. The plugin is available as a standalone product and is also included as part of the Korg Collection 6 bundle.
Filter Ark is a filter-focused sound design tool developed using Korg’s Component Modeling Technology. It builds on the approach used across the Korg Collection series, combining modelled classic filters with newly developed modern designs, and providing tools for combining and modulating them within a single interface.
The plugin allows users to combine up to four filters simultaneously, with flexible routing options that include series, parallel, feedback, and other configurations. This structure is intended to support a wide range of filtering approaches, from traditional signal processing to more complex sound design setups.
Filter Ark includes a selection of modelled filters based on designs that have played a role in synthesizer history, alongside newer filter types developed specifically for the plugin. These modern designs include physically modelled resonators and a vowel filter designed to simulate human vocal formants.
A built-in modulation system provides multiple sources for shaping filter behaviour over time. Available modulators include:
- Low-frequency oscillators (LFOs)
- An envelope follower
- A step sequencer
These modulation sources can be assigned to various parameters, allowing changes in tone, movement, and response to incoming audio or internally generated signals. In addition to processing external audio, Filter Ark is also capable of generating sound on its own, expanding its use beyond traditional insert or effect roles.
The plugin includes a preset system with sounds organised by category. Each preset features pre-assigned macro controls, allowing multiple parameters to be adjusted simultaneously through a small number of controls. This design is intended to support efficient navigation and sound shaping without requiring detailed parameter editing.
A free demo version of Filter Ark is available. The demo includes access to all features and the full sound range, with sessions limited to 20 minutes and saving disabled.
Filter Ark is also included in Korg Collection 6, which brings together a range of analogue and digital synthesizers, groove and DJ tools, and acoustic and electric keyboard instruments recreated for use in modern music production environments.
Filter Ark is currently available with an introductory 50 percent discount. The promotion is scheduled to run until January 29.
