Kush has announced the release of a new EQ plugin, q.632. This product is an updated and repackaged version of the highly regarded, yet obsolete, Magpha EQ, known for its unique phase-modeled filters that offer a level of smoothness and fidelity comparable to high-end analog mastering EQs.
Recognizing the potential of Magpha’s technology, Kush approached John Flynn, the mastering engineer who developed the original plugin. The company successfully secured an exclusive license for both the Magpha plugin and its underlying EQ algorithms. This collaboration has resulted in the creation of q.632, the first Kush product to utilize Magpha’s EQ digital signal processing (DSP).
q.632 boasts several enhancements over its predecessor, including an extended gain range, an updated Preset Manager, and compatibility with Apple Silicon. Despite these updates, the core DSP of Magpha EQ, known for its tightly phased sound, remains untouched. This core DSP is set to be gradually integrated into all of Kush’s future products.
