Kymatica Sounds has launched Drones and Atmospheres Volume 2, a new sound library for the free Audiomodern Soundbox sampler. The collection expands on the original Drones and Atmospheres release with a new set of evolving textures and tonal material.
Drones and Atmospheres Volume 2 includes 29 organic and evolving sounds designed for ambient, drone, and textural composition. The material was created using modular synthesizers, warped field recordings, and acoustic instruments processed through both analog and digital equipment.
The library is intended for use within Audiomodern Soundbox, a free sampler platform that hosts dedicated sound libraries. Users can load the collection into Soundbox and explore the included presets directly within the instrument.
According to the developer, the sounds are designed to evolve over time, encouraging sustained notes and exploration across different octaves. Holding keys allows gradual tonal and textural changes to unfold, making the library suited to slow-moving arrangements and layered sound design.
The collection is positioned for a range of creative contexts, including:
- Drone, ambient, lo-fi, neoclassical, and experimental music
- Adding background textures and atmospheric layers to productions in various genres
- Foundational elements for compositions, introductions, and interludes
- Sound design for visual media, including video games
The focus of the release is on organic, evolving timbres rather than percussive or rhythm-driven material. By combining modular synthesis, processed field recordings, and treated acoustic sources, the library offers a palette centered on sustained tones and gradual transformation.
Drones and Atmospheres Volume 2 complements the first volume in the series, expanding the available sound set for users of Soundbox who are working with atmospheric and textural material.
Drones and Atmospheres Volume 2 is available as a free download for Audiomodern Soundbox. The developer notes that voluntary contributions are appreciated.
