Little Audio has launched Little EQ. This free equalizer plugin, exclusively available for Windows, is designed to emulate the sound of a passive filter and an output transformer.
Little EQ is a unique equalizer plugin developed by Little Audio. The plugin is designed to replicate the sound of a passive filter and an output transformer. Currently, the plugin is only available for Windows users. To install the plugin, it needs to be downloaded and unzipped. The LittleEQ.vst3 file should then be moved to “C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3.” It is important to note that users need to copy the entire outer LittleEQ.vst3 folder, not just the vst3 file inside “x86\_64-win.”
The developer’s objective with Little EQ is to create an equalizer that delivers a clean, bright, and prominent sound while maintaining a touch of body. The aim is to keep the plugin simple and user-friendly, allowing for easy shaping of tunes during song production.
To achieve the desired sound, the developer utilized neural networks to capture the unique sound of a homemade passive filter, often referred to as “mojo.” Various functions were then applied using Digital Signal Processing (DSP). To balance the sound of this equalizer, the saturation of an EI96 output transformer was simulated.
For users of the Reaper software, it is necessary to enable the per-plugin compatibility setting: “Pass per-channel silence information to plug-in.” For those using Cubase, the recommendation is to switch the 32-bit processing to 64-bit processing.
Little EQ is available for free, with no expiration date. Users can download and install the plugin at no cost.
