Madrona Labs has launched Sumu, compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. This innovative software synthesizer merges additive resynthesis with FM and vector field spatialization, offering a unique musical experience.
The Sumu synth plugin is a collection of ten modules designed around a unique multi-channel patcher. This design provides musical possibilities that are not typically found in other instruments. Currently, the plugin is available for download in its Early Access release as Sumu 1.0.0b13 for Mac OS and Windows. Upon initial installation, the plugin operates in demo mode with certain limitations, which are lifted upon registration. Users can keep their plugin updated by downloading and running the latest installer.
Full licenses of Sumu are now available at an introductory price of $129.00, a limited-time offer. The purchase price includes a license for both Mac OS and Windows, and these licenses do not expire. After purchase, a license key is generated which can be used to register the plugin.
Sumu offers a broad spectrum of creative sound alterations, ranging from natural-sounding time stretching to exotic timbral manipulations. It allows for precise and careful changes in space and time, as well as wild chaotic ones. Additionally, it features an analog-modeled filter based on the classic four-pole Moog ladder design.
The Sumu plugin requires Mac OS X 10.14 (Mojave) or higher, or Windows 10 or higher. It is designed to run natively on both Intel-compatible and Apple Silicon processors.
Purchasing the Early Access version of Sumu provides immediate access to the software and a perpetual license for the 1.0 version and any future 1.x versions. Additional features are planned for the 1.0 release.
In addition to Sumu, a free companion app, Vutu, is available. Vutu allows users to create Sumu partials files from their own sounds and is compatible with both Mac and Windows.
The introductory offer for Sumu is currently 28% off. The expiry date of this offer is unknown.
