Flexion is an audio-processing plug-in announced by its developer for mix-bus and individual track processing. The announcement describes a workflow centred on adaptive processing algorithms, with both simplified operation and access to selected adjustment controls.
The plug-in includes six adaptive algorithms, each combining several processing stages. According to the developer, these stages can include compression, analogue-style saturation, expansion, clipping, tone shaping, stereo imaging, and adaptive limiting.
Flexion is designed to provide an initial processing setting through its main controls while allowing users to adjust key parameters for a particular source or mix. Available fine-tuning controls include Peak adjustment, curve shaping, Color Profile settings, and direct stereo-image control.
The Color Profile control is intended to alter the tonal character of the processing, with options described as brighter, darker, fuller, or cleaner. The Peak control and curve settings provide further adjustment of the plug-in’s internal processing behaviour.
Flexion includes more than 100 presets. These cover master-bus processing as well as presets intended for individual instruments and other sources.
The developer states that Flexion uses DSP algorithms designed for low processor use and reports no latency in most modes. VOCAL mode operates with 1.33 ms of latency, which the plug-in reports to the host DAW for latency compensation. The developer notes that this mode can be used in real time with the reported latency handled by compatible DAW compensation systems.
