Ocean Swift has launched Tyrian Tine, a new instrument for the free Kontakt Player. This compact tool offers a dual-layer sound engine designed to generate distinctive bell and chime textures with built-in randomization.
Tyrian Tine combines a wavetable oscillator with a sample-based oscillator, drawing on recordings of bells, kalimbas, music boxes and other metallic sources. The wavetable layer features controlled instability and morphing, while the sample layer delivers a variety of tonal colors ranging from crystalline overtones to gritty metallic strikes. Together they provide a broad sonic palette suited to ambient music, fantasy and sci-fi scores, game audio and sound design.
Users can shape the instrument’s output through a core set of performance controls. Velocity sensitivity, mod wheel assignment and random modulation introduce dynamic movement, while a streamlined effects section lets you apply filtering, tremolo, delay and reverb to place sounds in close or expansive settings.
- Asymmetric dual-layer engine: wavetable oscillator plus curated sample oscillator
- 73 presets, 34 samples and 11 wavetables
- On-board effects: filter, tremolo, delay and reverb
The instrument includes full NKS and NKS2 mappings for hands-on control with Komplete Kontrol keyboards and Maschine hardware. Every parameter shown in the Tyrian Tine interface is also displayed on Kontrol MK3 screens, allowing detailed adjustment without reaching for the mouse.
Installation requires only the free Kontakt Player and Native Access installer. After activation, users can download and launch Tyrian Tine alongside other Kontakt libraries, with no need for the full version of Kontakt 8.
Tyrian Tine is available for free (0.00€) via Native Access.
