Orange Tree Samples has launched Evolution Mellow Mando library for Kontakt Player, which features a Gibson A-style mandolin. This new product provides ultra-realistic mellow-sounding mandolin tones and offers a range of customizations to fine-tune its sound and playability.
The Evolution Mellow Mando was recorded using a 1917 A-style mandolin, renowned for its rich and expressive tone. The recording process captured the full dynamic range of the mandolin, from the delicate sound of the pick brushing across the strings to the lush, woody sustain when played with vigor.
The mandolin was played by Ryan Tilby, a multi-instrumentalist with decades of experience. The recording took place at the Rosewood Recording Company, utilizing analog gear to accentuate the rich tonal qualities of the mandolin.
In addition to its core features, the product comes with built-in effects for production-ready mandolin tones and a collection of instantly usable factory presets. It also includes a pattern editor and chord system for authentic mandolin rhythms and voicings, and an adjustable pick position using proprietary physical modeling technology.
The library utilizes 7.2 GB (compressed to 3.4 GB using the lossless NCW audio format) of 24-bit samples. It includes various articulations such as sustains, misfretted sustains, palm mutes, fully muted notes, harmonics, tremolo, and special effects like muted strums, body hits, and more.
Evolution Mellow Mando also licenses Native Instruments’ Kontakt Player sampler software and is NKS-ready, providing numerous benefits when used with Komplete Kontrol software and hardware. The product requires a total of 7.63 GB of free disk space for installation and is compatible with Windows 10 or 11 and Mac OS X 10.14 or newer.
The Evolution Mellow Mando is priced at $179 but is currently available for $139, offering a 22% introductory discount. This promotional offer is valid until November 14th.
