Parish Audio has launched Black Spire Tube Preamp, a new preamp and saturation plugin designed to introduce harmonic richness, density, warmth, and character to a wide range of audio sources. The plugin is intended for use on individual tracks, buses, and full mixes within modern DAW environments.
Black Spire Tube Preamp is designed to operate across subtle and more pronounced saturation settings. It can be applied lightly to add body, texture, and harmonic color, or driven more assertively to produce increased grit and a more forceful preamp-style response. Parish Audio states that the processor is suitable for vocals, drums, bass, guitars, synthesizers, keyboards, and complete mixes.
The plugin includes three selectable voicings, each offering a distinct tonal profile:
- Glass, described as the cleanest and brightest option, with an open response.
- Velvet, designed to provide a smoother and warmer tonal character.
- Iron, intended to deliver a firmer and more forward sound.
In addition to the voicing options, Black Spire features three intensity modes that define the overall saturation range and behavior:
These modes adjust how the harmonic saturation responds under different drive conditions, allowing users to tailor the plugin’s overall character to the material.
Control over signal shaping is provided through separate Input and Drive parameters. The Input control determines the level feeding into the processor, while Drive adjusts the amount of harmonic breakup introduced. Additional tone-shaping options include a Tone control for overall balance and a Low Contour control for adjusting low-frequency response.
A Mix control allows users to blend the processed and unprocessed signals. This enables subtle parallel saturation effects or fully wet processing, depending on the intended application.
Black Spire Tube Preamp is available for Windows in VST3 format and for macOS in VST3 and AU formats.
The regular price is $59.95. During a limited-time introductory launch promotion, Black Spire Tube Preamp is available for $29.97, reflecting a 50% discount.
